In operations, management capacity is referred as an amount of the input resources available to produce relative output over period of time. In general, terms capacity is referred as maximum production capacity, which can be attained within a normal working schedule. Capacity planning is essential to be determining optimum utilization of resource and plays an important role decision-making.

It helps identify and reduce inefficiencies associated with either under-utilized resources or unmet customer demand and to provide satisfactory.
One of the key pieces of information that should be stored in your capacity management information system is the capacity plan. The ITIL Service Design book offers a great high-level look at the contents of a capacity plan.It assumes, however, that you will create a colossal document that includes all the capacity details for all your services and components.
Business Capacity Management The capacity of teams, business capabilities and processes. This can include human resources, equipment, infrastructure, facilities and technology. For example, an operations team plans the resources required to boost production by 10,000 units a day.
Capacity management is the practice of right-sizing IT resources to meet current and future needs. It’s also one of five areas of ITIL Service Delivery. Capacity Management is closely related to Information Technology and it makes sure that all the available resources are being utilized in an optimum and cost-effective way. Besides utilizing all the available components, it is also focused on minimizing the downtime and achieving the performance objectives of a firm. The two major components are capacity planning and capacity control.
